چکیده
In this work valorization of the underexploited industrial solid residue generated after agar extraction from Gelidium sesquipedale was studied by using subcritical water in a semicontinuous fix-bed reactor. First, complete characterization by-product carried out, determining up to 21% (w/w) protein content (for nitrogen factor 4.9) with high essential amino acids, 37% carbohydrate fraction and amount ash, 22% (w/w). The effect temperature, range 129 200 °C, flow rate, 2 6 mL min?1, on carbon extraction/hydrolysis studied. At constant rate maximum achieved at 185 °C. Higher temperatures led degradation or its hydrolysis products. Free acids release followed same trend as fraction. most temperature sensitive determined gas chromatography (EZ:faast Phenomenex), were serine aspartic glutamic acids. As consequence, selectivity towards non-polar increased working severity factors. A Pearson correlation between antioxidant capacity collected extracts bioactive compounds (total polyphenolic –TPC-, peptides free acids) established, being stronger for TPC. ash treatment steadily due non-solubilization possible application agriculture fertilizers.

Enhancement of Phenolic Production and Antioxidant Activity from Buckwheat Leaves by Subcritical Water Extraction
To enhance the production of phenolic compounds with high antioxidant activity and reduce the level of phototoxic fagopyrin, buckwheat leaves were extracted with subcritical water (SW) at 100~220°C for 10~50 min. The major phenolic compounds were quercetin, gallic acid, and protocatechuic acid. The cumulative amount of individual phenolic compounds increased with increasing extraction temperatu...
متن کاملSubcritical water extraction of nutraceuticals with antioxidant activity from oregano. Chemical and functional characterization.
In the present work, oregano leaves (Origanum vulgare L.) are explored as natural source of nutraceuticals with antioxidant activity. To do this, subcritical water extraction (SWE), a new environmentally friendly technique, is employed as extraction procedure and HPLC coupled to DAD is used for the chemical characterization of the extracts. Moreover, the radical scavenging 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl...
متن کاملSubcritical-Water Extraction of Organics From Solid Matrices
An apparatus for extracting organic compounds from soils, sands, and other solid matrix materials utilizes water at subcritical temperature and pressure as a solvent. The apparatus, called subcritical water extractor (SCWE), is a prototype of subsystems of future instrumentation systems to be used in searching for organic compounds as signs of past or present life on Mars. An aqueous solution g...
متن کاملSubcritical Water Extraction of Essential Oils from Matricaria Chamomilla L.
Subcritical water extraction (SWE) of essential oil from Matricaria Chamomilla L. (M. Chamomilla L.) was performed and compared with conventional method including hydro distillation. The percentage of main extracted components of different temperatures (100, 125, 150 and 175 oc) and water flow rates (1, 2 and 4 ml/min) were investigated at 20 bar pressure and 0.50 mm mean particle size in SWE....
متن کاملPreparation of Agar-Agar from the Red Seaweed Pterocladia capillacea off the Coast of Alexandria, Egypt.
The effect of different treatments on the quality of agar produced from Pterocladia has been studied, and the conditions for the production of material of good quality have been standardized. In the modified process, sun-bleached seaweed was washed well in water, soaked for 24 h, and then ground to a pulp and rinsed again in water. The pulp was then extracted with water (weed-to-water ratio, 1:...
